As we mentioned earlier today, all this month MovieFanFare will be featuring special horror-related content along with our regular posts. This is true also with our Sunday Funday posts, as we want to share with you cool collectibles from your favorite fright flicks.
One of my most-loved films of all-time is Joe Dante’s 1984 effort Gremlins. This darkly hilarious film illustrates what happens when a small town is overrun by frenzied monsters who were spawned by a teenager’s Christmas present of an exotic animal named Gizmo after the rules for caring for the strange creature were violated. The movie has everything: Excitement, huge laughs and lovable characters. And since the title beasties were the right mix of repulsive and marketable, they — and the adorable Gizmo — became the stuff of merchandising legend during the 1980s and lasting until this day. Funko has released vinyl Pop! figures of both lead Gremlin Stripe and Gizmo that are available separately and packaged with a special Blu-ray set that includes Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
Each of these toys features a movable head and stands 3 3/4 inches, and is packaged in a colorful display box. They may have caused chaos at the cinema, but these Gremlins will only bring joy to your home!
Sunday Funday is a weekly feature showcasing the best in contemporary and classic movie/TV/pop culture-based toys and collectibles.
