With the Ben-Hur remake already having come and gone, the latest eyebrow-raising remake of a Hollywood classic comes to theaters today in the form of a new take on The Magnificent Seven. However, this latest remake is no mere cash in, director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) has enlisted such Hollywood heavyweights as frequent collaborator Denzel Washington, as well as Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, and Vincent D’Onofrio to give a 21st century spin on the 1960 favorite — which itself was a remake of Akira Kurosawa‘s Seven Samurai. These actors obviously have big cowboy boots to fill, what with intimidating talent like Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Eli Wallach, James Coburn, and Robert Vaughn starring in the original. Whether or not audiences will want to climb aboard this latest version remains to be seen. So for now, check out the above trailer for the 1960 version, and wonder what classic Tinseltown will revive next.
