Who’s Your Favorite Movie Hero?

They’re not just talking about superheroes, we assume, but this year’s notable Oscar theme is a “celebration of movie heroes.” No doubt we’ll get our fair share of men-in-tights moments during the obligatory clip parade, but it’s safe to guess that the montage will also include a wide variety of film protagonists we’ve cheered on, men and women and children and animals of all races, creeds, and orientations.

So this is a good time to put the question to Irv. He took his answer to this question in a different (but totally valid) direction:

While you’re preparing to wonder why the heck your favorite movie hero was left out during the Celebration of Heroes tribute on Oscar night, make sure he or she is paid the proper respect below in the comments.

  • Carolyn Ferrante

As a real life Hollywood hero, you couldn’t have picked a better person than Martin Scorsese. Just his drive to restore The Red Shoes made him a hero in my eyes. In terms of a movie hero, I have to stick with an old favorite, Will Kane, played by Gary Cooper, in High Noon.
