I like “Sleep, My Love” with Robert Cummings and Don Ameche. Also in the cast was Raymond Burr, playing a good guy!

Adore her in her last film, “Parrish”.

I like everything Claudette Colbert did. I loved her in Tomorrow is Forever with Orson Welles and also thought she was wonderful in Parrish.

The Palm Beach Story. The scene between her and the slightly deranged “Wienie King” was hilarious. It’s much harder to make people laugh than to make them cry.

  • Jim

I love several of these performances, but I have to assume, based on the voting, that there are a lot of people who haven’t seen The Palm Beach Story. She is irresistible in that movie.

  • Cara

Several of these films would get my vote, but the movie I want to see and haven’t is Claudette Colbert in Cleopatra. I believe it is a pre-code film, and Claudette gives an “interesting” performance.

I selected Ellie in ‘It Happened One Night’, but I really enjoyed her performance in many other films worthy of noting, like ‘Since You Went Away’ and ‘Boomtown’ (with Gable and Spencer Tracy). A wonderful actress who never stumbled in any of her performances.

  • Dana Thompson

Wow what a beauty and what a figure, along with all that talent, she and Gable were magnificent in It Happened One Night

My all time favorite performance of hers was not listed but it is such a great film – “Tomorrow is Forever” with Orson Welles and George Brent. I keep hoping this will be issued on DVD…

“Tomorrow is Forever” is out on DVD. It, too, is one of my favorite Claudette Colbert movies. She was good in every movie she made.

What a hard choice my top 2: It Happened One Night and The Egg and I…..closely followed by Parrish.
