For me the best ones are two: Runaway Jury and The Rainmaker. Great cast in both films (the cast in the other films was very good too, but I felt different about those two films).

You read my mind, Layka.  I voted for “The Rainmaker”, but “A Time to Kill” is a close second in my mind.  I think “The Rainmaker” would have gotten more votes if more voters had seen it.  If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend grabbing the DVD if you can.  Matt Damon, Danny DeVito and Jon Voight were great.  Claire Danes gave a great performance in one of her early big screen roles and Randy Travis’s cameo left me in stitches!  “Call me!”

It’s just a great story of David vs. Goliath.  I enjoyed the ride!

Christmas With the Kranks may very well be my least favorite movie ever.

  • K Mack

Susan Sarandon all the way in The Client, and you got to love Tommy Lee Jones

I thought “The Client” was virtually unreadable it was so bad.  Its the only movie I’ve ever seen that was actually better than the book.  Unfortunately, the movie wasn’t that great either.

  • Maggie

A Time to Kill and The Client…no doubt in my mind.

  • Lila

Having read the books…hands down the Rainmaker is the best adaptation.  Runaway Jury was disapointment because they changed the defendent from what was in the book.  Gun control instead of big tobacco industry.

How could anyone say “The Firm?”  Cruise was too young to begin with, and the storyline was changed dramatically.  The only thing about the film I liked was Holly Hunter; otherwise, the film stunk. The Pelican Brief was a good movie as long as you didn’t read the book. For me, “The Client” was the best.

  • Louis

I voted for The Firm, but after thinking I agree with the people on The Client.

  • Halliwell

The client is the best adaptation and so it the Chamber. Disagree with the Firm though.

  • bryankr

For me, Runaway Jury. The Firm was so far from the book, it was a different work! Runaway, on the other hand, I had sense enough not to read first! Made the movie so much more enjoyable.

A Time to Kill, The Client, and The Chamber.  Didn’t see The Pelican Brief, because I have a rule against seeing anything with Julia Roberts.  Too bad, because I’m a big Denzel fan; I’m sure he gave his usual good performance.

It’s hard to choose I really liked a lot of them.

HOW COULD “A CIVIL ACTION” NOT BE ON THE LIST?

    • http://www.moviesunlimited.com Gary Cahall

Because it isn’t based on a John Grisham book.

  • Sandy

I still think a Time To Kill was one of John Grisham’s best movies

  • Jane Kelly

I think The Firm was one of Tom Cruise’s best roles – he should have had an Oscar nomination for it. And I wish he would go back to making those kinds of movies!
