I am a retired theatre manager and it is a film we played when first released back in 1957. It bombed at the time thanks to being badly double-billed with an Ingrid Berman reissue "Fear" to cash in on her Oscar win for "Anastasia". A taut little thriller, "Nightfall" is one of those neglected noirs that deserves a very wide audience. Extremely highly recommended. "Desperate" is a great addition altho I think "Railroaded", which came immediately after it is even better. Ditto, "Armored Car Robbery", a real buried treasure if there ever was one. Like all films it's the way they were meant to be seen, but because of the style, art direction and camera work associated with these dark themed films, they are a standout. The Academy of Motion Pictures in LA is running a noir fest this summer and watching these films, many which I've seen repeatedly, on the big screen is a treat. I first saw this as a second feature, back when you'd see two films at theaters (I'm dating myself!). See it if you have a chace.
