Six Pix: The Little Black Dress

Six Pix presents a sextet of movie posters representing a particular actor/director/genre. You pick the one you feel is visually the most artistic or best sums up the film.

What’s sharper than a man in a white suit? A woman in a little black dress, of course.

Included are: The Lady from Shanghai (1948); La Dolce Vita (1960); Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961); Some Like It Hot (1959); La Femme Nikita (1991); and I Think I Love My Wife (2007).

Arguably the little black dress was perfected by designer Givenchy for Audrey Hepburn’s Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. However, the poster itself doesn’t rate as highly as some others here. Rita Hayworth looks wicked indeed in that slinky black number, but the edge has to go to the breastacular Anita Ekberg in the smoldering poster for La Dolce Vita. Meeeowwww!

Which one do you think is the winner? Should I have included something else? Tell me about it below! (And please feel free to suggest future topics.)

Audrey Hepburn for unqualified elegance; Anne Parillaud’s legs on the “la femme Nikita” poster steals the thunder away from Ekberg’s “breastaculars.”

They are great but how could you forget GILDA with Rita or FALLEN ANGEL with Linda
or PAYMENT ON DEMAND with Bette?

If only that poster looked more like Audrey Hepburn, I would be willing to give it my vote…but its hard to top Rita Hayworth…now all we need is the real “Oomph” girl, Ann Sheridan!

” The Lady From Shanghai”. No question of that. Rita Hayworth has the best figure and the sexiest dress. And, it’s a terrific poster shot from an unusual angle. Audrey Hepburn looks like a starving kitten (did the woman never eat?)  Marilyn Monroe looks chubby in a very poor poster. The dress in the “La Dolce Vita” poster is very sexy but are those boobs for real? If they are, I pity her old age. The dress in the “La Femme Nikita” poster looks like a wet swimming suit. And, the woman wearing the dress in the “I Think I Love My Wife” poster looks great in the dress but she also looks like a Munchkin – another bad poster..
