This week's new releases are all about classic TV shows and theatrical hits. Let's see what hot hits and cool flicks are now available on DVD and Blu-ray!
It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark. Wait, wrong Thriller! Elements of horror, mystery, and the supernatural were combined in this creepy series, which ran from 1960-1962 and was hosted by Boris Karloff. Focusing on ordinary people caught in extraordinary--and often frightening--situations, the show featured fine, young actors, top genre writers, and notable directors like Arthur Hiller, Ida Lupino, and Mitchell Leisen. All 67 episodes of the series--including "The Twisted Image," "Well of Doom," "Dark Legacy," "What Beckoning Ghost?," and "The Specialists"--are collected in a 14-disc set.
In this sensational sequel, four married couples gather in the Bahamas for their annual one-week reunion to catch up and reconnect. As all of the characters deal with their various relationship woes, their getaway is thrown into turmoil when an abusive ex-husband of one of the women shows up to undermine his old flame's marriage. Tyler Perry (who also wrote and directed), Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Malik Yoba, and Michael Jai White star.
Michael Caine delivers a commanding performance as Harry Brown, an aging former member of the British Royal Marines coping with a terminally ill wife and a fear-filled daily life in London's crime-ridden projects. When his old friend is murdered and the police refuse to act, Brown takes matters into his own hands and exacts his own brand of justice on the thugs who killed him. Emily Mortimer, Charlie Creed-Miles, David Bradley co-star in this stunning revenge thriller. This sounds great, even if the title does get Flight of the Conchords' "Carol Brown" stuck in my head.
NCIS: Los Angeles: The First Season
Action-packed "NCIS" spinoff follows the members of the elite L.A.-based Office of Special Projects as they use any and all means necessary to take down criminals who threaten national security. Led by legendary undercover operative G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell), the team also includes ex-Navy SEAL Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), psychologist Nate "Doc" Getz (Peter Cambor), forensic investigator Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah), and tech expert Eric Beal (Barrett Foa). Linda Hunt also stars. All 24 episodes from the debut season--including "Identity," "Predator," "Past Lives," "The Bank Job," and "Callen, G"--are featured in a six-disc set
Hugh Laurie wields a cane, a brusque bedside manner and a brilliant diagnostic mind as Dr. Gregory House, an acerbic expert in infectious diseases who leads a crack team of physicians as they tackle the most baffling of cases, in the hit Fox hospital drama. Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps, Robert Sean Leonard also star. All 21 episodes from the sixth season--including "Broken," "Instant Karma," "Black Hole," "Open and Shut," and "Help Me"--are featured in a five-disc set.
FlashForward: The Complete Series
When everyone on Earth experiences a simultaneous 137 second-long loss of consciousness, they are each given a glimpse of their lives six months into the future. As a team of FBI agents races to find out what caused the mass global blackout, each person on the planet must struggle with what they saw--or didn't see. Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Sonya Walger, Jack Davenport, Courtney B. Vance star in this inventive ABC series. All 22 episodes of the series--including "No More Good Days," "Black Swan," the two-part "Revelation Zero," "Course Correction," and "Future Shock"--are featured in a five-disc set. The low-rent Lost storytelling and Joseph Fiennes' constant declaring that "there's gonna be another blackout" caused me to tune out fairly early on, though I heard the show eventually picked up steam. Did any of you watch this? If so, am I missing something. Let me know in the comments.
From "The Shield" writer/producer Kurt Sutter comes this down-and-dirty FX series that follows the members of the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club, modern-day outlaws that deal in the sale of illegal weapons to California drug gangs. Jackson "Jax" Teller (Charlie Hunnam) is the club's vice president, who struggles with being a new dad while taking on more of a leadership role within the gang. Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Mark Boone Junior also star. All 13 second-season episodes--including "Small Tears," "Albification," "Service," "Fa Guan," and "The Culling"--are featured in a four-disc set.
Brothers and Sisters: The Complete Fourth Season
The complicated lives of the adult siblings in the Los Angeles-based Walker clan are the focus of ABC's multi-layered drama. Among the brothers and sisters are Kitty (Calista Flockhart), who's returned home from New York; Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) and Tommy (Balthazar Getty) who are embroiled in the family business' shady financial dealings; Justin (Dave Annable), still struggling with his tour in Afghanistan; and gay brother Kevin (Matthew Rhys). With Sally Field, Tom Skerritt, Ron Rifkin, Patricia Wettig. All 24 episodes from season four--including "The Road Ahead," "Last Tango in Pasadena," "The Wig Party," "Nearlyweds," and "Leap of Faith"--are featured in a six-disc set.

From executive producer Ron Howard comes this heartwarming dramedy series based on his hit 1989 film. As dependable husband and father Adam Braverman (Peter Krause) and his wife, Kristina (Monica Potter), raise their children, Adam's divorced sister Sarah (Lauren Graham) struggles with two of her own, and their younger brother Crosby (Dax Shepard) learns of one he never knew he had.
