George C. Scott as the prosecutor certainly demonstrates in the film the correctness of the old lawyers' adage, "Never ask a question to which you don't already know the answer." In trying to discredit a witness as a jealous lover, he enhances her creditibility when she replies that her relationship with the dead man was that of father and daughter. It's not only the most realistic trial film but the most entertaining.
