Oh, how we hear<\/em> it on this blog. How the movies today are awful<\/em>. The violence<\/em>. The sex<\/em>. The language<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The acting<\/em>. The writing<\/em>. The messages being shoved down our throats<\/em>.<\/p>\n

If we were to ask the question, Do You Get Into Fights About the Movies?<\/a>, this is the fight that would probably come up the fastest. (Oh, wait: It did<\/a>.) Of course, this is where we Ask Movie Irv<\/em>, not Ask George the Guy Who Makes These Videos<\/em>, so I won’t go on at length about how generally\u00a0illegitimate I find\u00a0those assertions to be, seeing as how\u00a0they pretty much\u00a0barf themselves up repeatedly\u00a0the moment the members of a given\u00a0generation begin waxing nostalgic about the era of cinema they grew up with (and consequently feel the most magical about) and look down their noses at whatever “those %#&$! kids” find so engrossing today. I recently read a great article\u2014and I kick myself now for not remembering where so I could helpfully link to it\u2014that spelled out clearly just how sex-obsessed the movies were back in the DeMille days, and also\u00a0how relatively chaste they are today compared to them, or,\u00a0say, to\u00a0the daring films of the 1970s. And furthermore…<\/p>\n
