Even though Duane and his mutated, basket-dwelling psycho brother Belial seemingly perished at the end of their first adventure, they returned for <a title=\"Basket Case 2\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moviesunlimited.com\/musite\/product.asp?sku=D25083&amp;loc=buzzsearch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Basket Case 2<\/a> in 1990. As the above trailer proves, the film\u00a0manages to establish its own identity while still having enough cheesy thrills to please fans of the original.<\/p>\n<p>Taken in by their aunt, Granny Ruth (portrayed by a scenery chewing Annie Ross), the siblings encounter other societal fugitives and refugees. The increased\u00a0budget means that the film doesn&#8217;t quite recapture the delightful sleaze of the first film. But what it may lack in grime it more than makes up for with such new characters as golden-voiced mutant Lorenzo and Eve, Belial&#8217;s newfound love interest. The house of\u00a0freaks aspect to the film is largely responsible for its enduring popularity.\u00a0Here&#8217;s an introduction to Basket Case 2&#8217;s supporting players:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Tnnvn1kJD1o&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Tnnvn1kJD1o&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Fun! Eventually, all of the misfits run afoul of the press, setting the stage for a shocking denouement that would dovetail nicely into <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Basket_Case_3:_The_Progeny\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Basket Case 3: The Progeny<\/a>. Yep, writer\/director Frank Henenlotter brought the characters back for a third time in 1991. (More on that in a future post). So, what&#8217;s in the basket this time?
