WOW!
Of course I, at least, remember him!
However, to have died of an MI, essentially unrecognized, at age 37 is tragic.
Sabu deserved far, far better then that!

When I was a boy, the Elephant Boy, shot in the forests of Mysore, was released in Mysore too. Though I missed the film, as I was only a small school-going boy, there was a lot of talk about him for quite a few years in Mysore. His descendant family members still live in this city of mine.
@Geoff Huntley, will you pl. post those photos? If possible pl. mail it to my id, gourisatya@yahoo.com
Love to see them.

Before WW2 Sabu made most of his films at Denham Studios or Beaconsfield studios in Buckinghamshire, England. Before the war my father was a police officer in Beaconsfield and in those 'good old' days Sabu used to walk outside the studio and talk to my father who was 'on duty'. Somewhere, I have a couple of photos of Sabu with my father. In one, he is wearing my fathers helmet and standing next to my father.
Only a 'snippet' I know but that was how 'relaxed' things were back then...

Thanks for recounting in detail Sabu's military service record. He was one of the real American heroes, not John Wayne who sat out the war on his deferment.

As a kid in the 1950's I loved all the Sabu adventure films (my favorite genre at that time) that were shown on local TV.
